Rescue South Africa

Rescue South Africa (Rescua SA) is the official South African Disaster Response Team made up of volunteer emergency response specialists from the South African public and private sector services. The Team has played a significant role in various international disasters, representing South Africa with pride and distinction.

Design for the stamps and postcard reflect the chaotic broken surfaces and surroundings in which Rescue SA must do their work. The imagery is taken from photos of real life rescue operations. The globe represents the rescue operations that they have taken apart in around the world. The paper and cardboard cutouts have a further significance in connection to the fragility of life in the face of disasters.
